Disciplinary Literacy is the understanding that reading skills differ across different parts of the curriculum. Reading like a historian is a different skill to reading like a scientist, for example. At Summerhill, each department has identified the reading skills that students should develop to ensure progress in that area. We call this ‘Read like a…’ and each department displays the posters below, to support your child’s disciplinary literacy development
